Artie vs ChatGPT Work: projects, deliverables and team handoffs

Compare Artie and ChatGPT Work on project deliverables, recurring tasks, pricing and team handoffs, including shared-project restrictions.

Choose Artie to evaluate an AI employee around a shared business responsibility. Choose ChatGPT Work when an owner needs research, analysis or finished files within a project. Work can also repeat tasks, so this is a comparison of working arrangements, not a claim that only Artie can keep a job running.

This page focuses on project execution in Work. For an always-on personal agent that follows priorities between conversations, see our Artie vs ChatGPT Dots comparison. OpenAI's agent-mode notice now directs users of that retired mode to Work.

Artie is our product. This is a documentation-based comparison checked on October 10, 2026, not a hands-on benchmark. Prices below are in USD. The fictional exercise below gives review criteria, with no claimed vendor results.

Artie for work with several human contributors

Artie offers named employees, custom roles, a work computer and company knowledge within granted access. Colleagues can work with it through Slack, while its published communication options also include text, WhatsApp, email, calls and Google Meet.

Consider a launch-readiness responsibility that receives product changes from engineering, customer concerns from sales and deadlines from marketing. The case for Artie is giving that continuing responsibility a recognizable employee and agreed reviewers. It is most useful when the work belongs to several people rather than one analyst delivering a file.

Work for an assignment inside a project

OpenAI documents Work for research and deliverables such as documents, spreadsheets and presentations. Supported projects supply related files and instructions, with Work availability depending on the project’s memory setting and workspace access. Cloud tasks run across web, mobile and desktop, while access to computer-local resources requires the desktop setup and permissions.

Work also offers a cloud browser for supported website interactions. Signing into a site does not guarantee that every action will work. Browser restrictions, connected-app permissions and required approvals still apply.

A strong fit is an operations analyst who owns a supplier comparison from brief to recommendation. The analyst can keep the source files together, inspect the output and request a revision in the same project. If that already produces the artifact your team needs, a second platform may add more setup than value.

Sources: Artie pricing, Plus and Work's usage guide. ChatGPT Pro plans are $100, $200 or $500 monthly with different allowances. For managed team use, Business Standard is $25 per user monthly or $20 per user per month billed annually. Premium is $125 monthly or $100 per user per month annually, with higher usage. Both seat types can use Work. New Business workspaces require at least two paid seats, and Standard and Premium can be mixed.

Do not carry the retired agent mode's message allowance into a Work budget. For one existing ChatGPT subscriber, the relevant cost may be extra usage rather than another subscription. For several new users, compare the complete seat bill with Artie's shared plan, then include measured consumption and review time.

Project sharing and scheduled-task sharing are different

ChatGPT also supports shared projects, where members can use shared files and instructions and branch conversations. The current guide says these projects use project-only memory, and Work is unavailable under that memory setting. Shared ChatGPT context therefore should not be assumed to provide a shared Work session.

When scheduled Work-task sharing is available, the recipient schedules a separate copy. They need their own access to Work and the required apps. The shared task does not transfer the creator's credentials, history, local files or saved memories. That is useful for distributing a repeatable assignment, but it is different from several colleagues maintaining one ongoing responsibility.

Use that distinction when deciding how feedback travels. An analyst can collect comments on a finished spreadsheet and own the next revision. A shared operational role may instead require several colleagues to direct the work themselves. Neither pattern is inherently better, but leaving the owner undefined creates avoidable coordination.

Try the supplied supplier brief

Use this fictional supplier brief: Priya needs 40 workshop kits, each with a notebook, pen and lanyard, delivered by October 23 within a $2,600 budget. Prepare a comparison and recommendation for her review. Do not contact suppliers or place an order.

Both quotes include all three required items and are valid through October 15. Alder's subtotal is $2,200 before unspecified tax. Birch's confirmed total is $2,400. On October 12, Alder supplies a correction: delivery moves to October 26, with all other terms unchanged. Have the reviewer add that correction and request a column separating confirmed and unresolved terms.

Record the accepted file, source references, revision effort and actual billed usage. Keep the exercise to drafts. Artie's approval guidance is explicit that AI judgments can be wrong, so use connected-tool restrictions for actions that must not happen.

Keep Work if one owner can reliably deliver and revise the project artifact. Evaluate Artie when several colleagues need an employee around the continuing responsibility. Join Artie's waitlist with the responsibility and its first accepted output in mind.
