Your brief

Investigate new checkout errors from our configured logs. Correlate them with the release, prepare a draft fix if reproducible and leave production changes to the release owner.

GilfoyleAPP

I’ll trace the error to the relevant release and repo, then bring back evidence and a reviewable next step.

How Gilfoyle handles it.

Starts: A new error shows up in the log or alert source you have connected and made accessible.

1. Connect the signal to a release

Configure the log or alert source and supply the repository, environment, release identifier and incident owner. Gilfoyle checks actual error lines and relevant changes before forming a cause; access determines which signals it can observe.

2. Reproduce and prepare the fix

Using connected Claude Code or Codex with GitHub, Gilfoyle builds a supported reproduction and a focused regression test. If the evidence points outside the code or requires unavailable access, the incident owner gets the missing evidence and next diagnostic step.

3. Review, release and verify

A draft PR records the diagnosis, tests and release considerations. Required reviewers and the authorized release owner decide what ships. After an approved release, accessible logs and the owner’s checks establish whether the error stopped before the incident is closed.

Start from the signal, finish with evidence.

This workflow starts from errors that show up in the production signals you connect. Which errors it sees, and how soon, follow the monitoring and access you supply.

Hypothetical finished result

Example output

Checkout error investigation

Hypothetical: a configured alert reports a new missing-field exception after a release.

Diagnosis
The brief cites the relevant error timestamps and release diff. A payload without the optional address field reproduces the failing path.
Draft fix
A guard and regression test cover the missing field and normal payload. The PR includes the focused check results and requests the checkout code owner.
Verification
After the release owner approves and ships the change, the handoff checks the configured error query over the agreed observation window. Closure waits for that evidence and the incident owner’s decision.

The apps this job needs.

Connect the accounts and actions for your workflow. Start in Artie or add your Artisan to Slack; access stays within your account permissions.

Explore apps
Configured logs or alerts
Provide the actual log source, such as CloudWatch, with the time window, environment and read access, through a supported app, API or MCP connection. Slack alert messages can provide intake when configured.
GitHub and Claude Code or Codex
Connect the matching repository and coding tool, including the dependencies needed for focused reproduction and tests.
Slack
Connect the incident channel and name the owner, required reviewers and release authority. Production actions need the explicit authority and supported access for that action.

Questions about this workflow

Which errors will Gilfoyle catch, and how soon?

Gilfoyle acts on errors once they show up in the signals it can access, so it cannot promise to find a failure before a user does or within a set time. Coverage and timing depend on your monitoring and configuration.

Does Gilfoyle deploy automatically?

The default deliverable here is a draft PR. Your release owner controls production changes and any additional release authority must be explicitly configured.

What if the logs point to an external provider?

The handoff includes the evidence, affected path and next owner. Gilfoyle does not invent a code fix for a cause the evidence does not support.
