Change a task's brief, owner or schedule

Update existing work while preserving its context and history.

Change the existing task when the outcome or timing changes. Starting a new job with nearly the same brief can leave both active.

On this page

Open the current task

Find it from Tasks, the Artisan's responsibilities or the original conversation. Read the current brief and latest progress so you know what has already happened.

Use supported edit controls

Edit the relevant fields in the task's menu or sheet. For a substantive change, explain it in the linked conversation and name what replaces the old brief.

Example request

For this existing renewal report, use the next 60 days instead of 30. Keep Donna as owner and keep the same Monday delivery.

Check active and approved work

A changed instruction cannot undo an external action already completed. If an action is approved or being sent, inspect its current state and tell Artie which parts should change. Your requested edit authorizes that change within your authority; it does not authorize a different account or audience.

Read back the update

Reopen the task and confirm the brief, owner and next occurrence. If another edit happened at the same time, reconcile the current version instead of overwriting it. Confirm that an owner transfer leaves one accountable owner.
