Bring existing knowledge into Artie

Import useful context with its ownership, sources and limits intact.

Bring the context a responsibility needs instead of uploading every company document at once. Tell Artie what the material represents, which parts are current and who should be able to use it.

Choose the right input

Attach reference documents to the job that needs them, connect the source app for live records, or use Memory's import option where available for retained knowledge. A Skill import is a reusable method, not a generic memory import.

Include provenance

Keep meaningful file names, dates, owners and links to original records. Mark older decisions as historical. When several versions disagree, identify the current source of truth.

Example request

Import this team's product terminology as shared company context. The September glossary is current; the older launch notes are historical. Keep my personal planning notes private.

Review the processing result

Check whether the input was saved, read and indexed. Partial or unreadable content should say which stage or portion failed. If the original bytes are still saved, recover processing before uploading another copy.

Verify a real retrieval

Ask a question whose answer requires the imported material and inspect the source. An import-complete message does not establish that every item will be found correctly or that access has become workspace-wide.
